چکیده

Children under 15 years spend over six hours per day in school buildings and are particularly vulnerable to the effects of poor indoor air quality (IAQ). However long-term monitoring environmental conditions is limited Australian schools. This study evaluates IAQ ten classrooms temperate settings Victoria. Temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration, PM2.5 PM10 were monitored a period one year. The temperature humidity values ranged between 18.7°C 23.8°C 44–63 RH%, respectively, indicating that have been mechanically controlled. average change (ACH) rates 10 varied considerably (range: 0.7–4.83 ACH). ventilation from 1.6 Ls?1 11.5 person with 7 out showing below recommended minimum. points need for increasing classrooms.

Indoor Air Quality in U.k. School Classrooms Ventilated by Natural Ventilation Windcatchers

The provision of good IAQ in schools is important both for the health of students and in maximising educational achievement. It is, however, common for school classrooms to be significantly under-ventilated and this can lead to high levels of CO 2 and other pollutants. Natural ventilation offers the potential to improve IAQ within schools whilst at the same time reducing running and maintenance...

Green School, Healthy School? The Role of Children in Post-Occupancy Evaluation to Determine Indoor Air Quality in Classrooms

Issues of internal and external air pollution, common diseases afflicting children, and concerns for optimizing learning potential are all important factors to consider in post-occupancy evaluations of air quality in schools. However, children’s perspectives on air quality are largely overlooked. Developing an appropriate methodology to include children is both important and institutionally dif...
